How It Works
Can you make a nameplate for any player?
Yes, any name, current players or old favorites. Find your team's nameplate in the shop (Patriots, Seahawks, Eagles, Raiders, Steelers, 49ers, Bears and more), choose your jersey color, and type the name exactly as you want it spelled. [Do you check spellings against the team roster?] If your team isn't listed, use the Custom Football Jersey Nameplate and tell us the team, and we'll match the colors.
Do I have to send you my jersey?
No. Most people order just the nameplate and put it on at home, using our How to apply your twill nameplate guide. If you'd rather we do it, choose a full-service option and send the jersey in. Full-service turnaround is longer (see Turnaround Times), and it starts the day your jersey arrives.
My player was traded or retired. Can I change the name on my jersey?
Yes! This is one of our most common orders. When a player leaves, you can give your jersey a new name in two ways:
- Order a new nameplate and put it on yourself. Pick your team's nameplate, type the new player's name, and we'll make it in your team's colors. Remove the old one and sew on the new one.
- Send us your jersey (full service). Choose Replace My Jersey Nameplate – Full Service and we'll remove the old nameplate, make the new one, and sew it on. Then return it to you. Just select the "Send" option on the Team's page, or order on the Full Service Nameplate Replacement page.
Numbers are a different story. We can't remove existing numbers, so if your new player wears a different number, see Can I change the number on my jersey?
Can I change the number on my jersey?
No, sadly as a small shop we do not currently have the manpower to remove numbers. Depending on who added the numbers to your jersey they often have glue residue left behind. If the glue residue isn’t visible on white jerseys there instead can be ghosting from darker numbering.
Colors & Fabric
Will it look like the official nameplate?
All nameplates are AFTER MARKET, they cannot be an exact match. Our fonts are a close match.
Fabrics and colors can differ. See Can you match my jersey's fabric?, and order a swatch if you want to check first.
We do have the option for a better match, you find a donor jersey, we cut the new nameplate out of it, that's about as perfect as it can get.
Can you match my jersey's fabric?
These are after market nameplates and there are MANY different fabrics that have been used for jerseys. There are some jerseys that use fabrics that we are able to match. There are Mesh fabric, moisture wicking fabrics, older Dazzle fabrics material, while others are proprietary like Under Armour or Nike jerseys.
Beyond that, the color of the fabric may not match. Depending on how much sun exposure your jersey has had and and how you wash it, or don’t can lead to other fabric color issues.
We do offer swatches of fabric so you can see the fabric against your jersey before you order. To order swatches, go to the swatches page.
What colored nameplates and twill do you have?
We have a variety of colors, they are all based on "sports" colors, though you'll note we have about 7 different reds available. We need to know what team your jersey is from, which color, and an approximate "era" of the jersey. Manufacturers have different colors, for instance there are about 7 different midnight greens the Eagles use. For the Flyers there are several different oranges they use for the nameplates as well. It's better to order a swatch to ensure your fabric color matches.
Sizing
What is the size of a nameplate?
Because we make our nameplates from raw fabric they can be almost any size. The size is directly related to the letter sizing.
Pro-Football nameplates, we size based on general fan jersey measurements with lettering at 2", 2.5", and 3". We add 5/8" added to the top and the bottom.
Custom Hockey nameplates, we add 3/8" to the top and bottom. When you order a tight nameplate, we also add 3/8" to the left and right.
Team specific hockey jersey have 1/2" to the top and bottom. Sometimes it's also added to the left and right.
Nameplate Lengths are variable, our max lettering length is 14". However for an upcharge things can be hand sewn to allow for longer lengths.
Can you do arched nameplates?
For arched nameplates, we need a bit more info to make sure we can cover your jersey properly. In many cases there is limited space, but we are more than capable of getting this done for you. We just need a photo of the back of the jersey with a ruler so we can work out sizing to best work in the jersey space. Often times, sending us the jersey we are able to make sure to customize the jersey to best match the jersey’s styling.
We do offer a full service option, this way we can measure exactly what we need to cover the old nameplate.
