Kiss-cut lettering is a method to reduce weight of lettering and numbering on a jersey. Normally a letter or number has layers of twill stacked one on top of the other.
With kiss-cut lettering or numbering the “outline” color is a ring of fabric instead of a full solid color under the “top” color.
This reduces weight of a jersey and makes the jersey more supple. Flow of the fabrics is greater and it creates a unique finish.
Examples of where you can see kiss-cut lettering in the wild:
- Nike Vapor Elite Jerseys – lettering on most of these jerseys is 3 inches or larger.
